Mary, you might be able to restore user data that has gone missing after a Firefox update by following the steps in this article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/recover-user-data-missing-after-firefox-update

did not work i had to get a new profile

Mary, if that did not help then you may still be able to find at least your bookmarks in bookmark backup files within old profile folders on your hard drive. But note that before searching you may first need to enable the viewing of hidden files and folders.

Firefox maintains these backups of bookmarks in a folder named "bookmarkbackups". So you could try searching your hard drive for folders with this name.

The backups will have names of the form "bookmarks-*.jsonlz4". So alternatively you could try searching for filenames matching this pattern instead.

The filenames should include a date, so it will be easy to tell which are the most recent backups.

If you find a suitable backup file then you can import it via the "Import and Backup" menu in the bookmarks library. See the "Restoring from backups" section here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/restore-bookmarks-from-backup-or-move-them

(But note the part "Caution: Restoring bookmarks from a backup will overwrite your current set of bookmarks with the ones in the backup file". So you may wish to note or export any pre-existing bookmarks first.)

thank you i am sorry i tried doing it and lost my bookmarks can not figure it out thank you

i have old firefox data will that work s well if i go to bookmarks

Mary, I am not sure what you mean by "old firefox data"? Do you mean that you have a folder on your desktop, say? Or an exported backup file of your bookmarks?

how do i remove AI IN FIREFOX SEARCH I USE GOOGLE SEARCH BUT EVERYTIME I SEARCH SOMETHING I SEE a1 . WHY DID EVERYTHING CHANGE ON THE NEW UPDATE

Hello

Is it, Google AI Overview

You can try, Add custom search engines in Firefox https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/add-custom-search-engine-firefox

4. In the URL with %s in place of the search term field, copy & paste the URL of the custom search engine.

https://www.google.com/search?udm=14&q=%s

Mary, if you have a folder named 'old firefox data' on your desktop, then this may contain all the missing information.

What you could try:

  1. Type or paste "about:profiles" into the Firefox address bar and press enter.
  2. Look for the current profile in the list. This will have "This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted." under its name.
  3. Press the current profile's "Open Folder" button. This should open the folder in File Explorer.
  4. Fully exit Firefox.
  5. In File Explorer, copy the current profile folder to another location, so that you have a backup of it.
  6. Delete all the contents of the current profile folder.
  7. Copy the contents of the 'old firefox data' folder on your desktop into the (now empty) current profile folder.
  8. Restart Firefox.

Hopefully Firefox will now start with the missing information.

If it does not, then you can always get back to where you were by: Repeat steps 1 to 4 above. Once again delete all the files and folders within the current profile folder. Copy the contents of the backup folder that you created in step 5 above, back into the current (now empty) profile folder.
