Bookmarks diappeared but cannot troubleshoot per directions because <manage bookmarks> does not work

My bookmarks suddenly disappeared. I tried to use the troubleshooting guide for "My Bookmarks have Disappeared" bold textbut when I click on <Manage Bookmarks> step nothing happens. Also, when I click on the star to make a bookmark, nothing happens.

If you run Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode, does the problem persist?
