pop-up window with ads
I just started getting an annoying ding/small pop-up window that appears to be a link to various ads . . . I would like to get rid of it.
I assume it is FIrefox, as it started happening after my most recent update. I also assume there is a setting I can use, but I don't see a settings icon in Firefox. <Sigh>
Possibly it only pops up when I'm using Duck Duck Go, but I'm not sure about that.
Sure need some help here . . . much appreciated.

Hi, those might be notifications sites send to Firefox, which could be displayed either by Firefox or by Windows. As a first step, adjust your notification permissions on the Settings page this way:
Open the Settings page using either:
- menu button > Settings
- (menu bar or Alt+T) Tools > Settings
In the tiny search box, slowly type notif until the Permissions section comes into view.
To the right of Notifications, click the Settings... button.
If there are any sites listed with "Allow" permission that you don't trust and want to get notifications from, switch its permission to "Block."
Then click Save Changes.
Any improvement?

Hi jscher2000 ~ your solution did the trick, thank you so much! In addition, I have learned more things about my new-ish (2 months) laptop. I have moved from a Windows 7 tower to a Windows 11 touchscreen/touchpad, and am still in a learning curve. Your combination of specific instructions with visual descriptions is very effective, and much appreciated. While my specific steps were different, your explanation was clear enough to guide me through what I had to do. Again, many thanks. Meredith
