Maybe if you shared the message, and also a screenshot of your SMTP server settings, someone here may have a suggestion. Thank you.

I really appreciate someone replying to my problem, but Im an old guy and I have no idea how to do either of the things you suggest thanks tho

Ok, can you type the full error message? Also, do this:

  1. click to 'account settings
  2. look in left column for 'Outgoing Servers (SMTP) and click there
  3. click to your SMTP server there and enter all information there. Thank you.

Logon to smtp.connect with username wca failed authentication method accout settings outgoing server.

I dont have any idea what this is. I did find account settings and look at it but there is nothing that tells me whats wrong or what to do about it.

Can you do a screenshot of the SMTP settings? or type in 100% the content of every field?

Hi David the smtp box says

Description Comcast Server Name smtp.comcast.net port 587 Username wca58 Authentication method normal password connection security starttls

thanks for the help

For a start, enter your full email address for username. I am not a comcast guru, but the full email address may be the issue. You need that, regardless.

thanks for the suggestion that did not work.

try Oauth2 for authentication

did you enter this manuallly, or did thunderbird insert all of that?
