Hi,

I have used Thunderbird for some years and it works well for me. I don't do anything fancy, just mail, calendar and tasks as a stand-alone user.

I'm migrating to a new pc. - I downloaded and installed Thunderbird. - I did not create any email accounts at this point. - I copied my profile from my old pc as per Mozilla support guidance. - Open Thunderbird - Now I can see my mail, folders and layouts perfectly.

But I cannot see anything at all to do with Events and Tasks. - Tools-Addons says Lightning is installed. - No 'Events and Tasks' in menu bar - No 'Calender' tab in Tools-Addon options-Lightning - No 'Events and Tasks' panel

From 'Events and Tasks' tab on old pc I have exported calendar (Home.ics) ready to import to new pc but I can see no option to import this.

I'm sure I must have done something wrong. I would be most grateful for any advice. I am not a tecchie; I am but a basic user.

thanks john

Ahah, I seem to be sorted! Ahead of investigating the articles you pointed me to, I 'disabled' Lightning, restarted, 'enabled', restarted and, lo, my calendar and tasks are there! A version of the old 'switch off, switch on' routine.

Thank you to Chris and sfhowes for your help.

Hi John, It sounds like the Lightning add-on is disabled. If you cannot enable it in the Add-ons Manager, could you try the solutions in the following article, and see if any of them help: Calendar updates issues with Thunderbird.

Hi Chris,

In Add-ons Manager, the options for Lightning are 'Disable' and 'Remove', which suggests to me that it is enabled.

Try the steps described in the article mentioned above in the section 'Lightning disappears after a Thunderbird update'. Tools/Options.Advanced/General Config. editor.
