I am done with Google and their shenanigans so i decided to move back to firefox. When i imported my list of bookmarks; the bookmarks have a globe beside the label in the toolbar under address bar. How can i easily get the icons to show up for the different sites...Like reddit used to have the red reddit logo as the icon.

Sorry, but when Firefox imports bookmarks from another browser the Favicon (website) images don't get imported with the associated bookmarks. Two reasons; the original bookmarks.html format from the mid-'90s didn't include that data and it seems that each browser engine uses a different format for saving Favicon data. That holds true for doing a manual export and then import between different web browsers, too.

Separate Security Issue, please update your Flash 28.0 r0 by removing it with this tool : https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html If you use it Reinstall with Flash Player Version: 30.0.0.134 Current Version https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ Step 1: Select Operating System Step 2: Select A Version (Firefox, . . . .) Note: Other software is offered in the download. <Windows Only>

It would seem you will need to go back to each page and drag a new one down. Sorry but only way.

You will have to visit each link (i.e. click the bookmark) to make Firefox retrieve the favicon.

thank you all so much for your help. :) I was able to get it fixed using the flash response above. thankfully i didnt have to click on the pages; when i updated flash it updated the icons automatically. I appreciate the help.

Removing and re-installing Flash worked well. All I had to do was click on the remaining generic icons, and they changed to fresh specific ones when their sites opened. Many thanks.

You would normally one need to click each of the bookmarks that do not have a favicon to make Firefox retrieve the favicon from the server. Whether Flash is up to date or outdated shouldn't have any effect. favicons are lost when there is a problem with the favicons.sqlite database or with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks and history).

In such a case you can check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks and history) in the Firefox profile folder.

Many thanks for that. By accident, I seem to have hit on something like the first part of your advice (open affected bookmark > remove it from favourites > Ctrl+D to replace it). However, I'd never have thought of you places.sqlite advice, and will save that in case the trouble occurs again.

You're welcome.

"Verify Integrity" checks both places.sqlite and favicons.sqlite as you can see if you click this button (The xxx database is sane).
