Could you check the Flash global permission setting on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Plugins. On the right side, look for "Shockwave Flash" and check the permissions control:

  • "Always Activate" - allow any site to use Flash without further permission
  • "Ask to Activate" - only allow sites to use Flash after your approval
  • "Never Activate" - completely hide Flash from sites (they will tell you you do not have it)

Can you get Flash to either Always Activate or Ask to Activate?

With "Ask to Activate", when you visit a site that wants to use Flash, you should see a notification icon in the address bar and usually (but not always) one of the following: a link in a black rectangle in the page or an infobar sliding down between the toolbar area and the page.

The plugin notification icon in the address bar typically looks like a small, dark gray Lego block. When the page wants to use a blocked plugin, the icon turns red to alert you to the concern.

If you see a good reason to use Flash, and the site looks trustworthy, you can go ahead and click the notification icon in the address bar to allow Flash. You can trust the site for the time being or permanently.

But some pages use Flash only for tracking or playing ads, so if you don't see an immediate need for Flash, feel free to ignore the notification! It will just sit there in case you want to use it later.

By the way, you might want to try disabling the "Flash Video Player for Facebook" on the Extensions section of the Add-ons page. Let's take that out of the equation in case it is malfunctioning.

jscher 2000, thank you for responding. Flash for Facebook was on, so I turned that off first. Thanks for thinking of that! Here's my add on plug ins. I am still not able to view some video or games in Facebook. I don't know where to begin to figure that out. At least Firefox seems right.

Can you give an example of a game that won't load (address to the page preferred)? Probably that would be something another person could take a look at, unlike most videos.

Candy Crush loads 69% and hangs forever. I found this message, but I do not use chrome, I have Firefox The settings on this page are not applicable to Google Chrome or Chromium based browsers (PPAPI)

I've attempted many times, still no luck https://apps.facebook.com/candycrush/?fb_source=bookmark&ref=bookmarks&count=0&fb_bmpos=_0

This one loads but the play button does not work: https://apps.facebook.com/mahjongclass/?fb_source=canvas_bookmark

Here's another video that will not play in Firefox. This is on CNN http://www.cnn.com/videos/tv/2016/10/30/too-much-punditry.cnn

Those videos seem normal, in the sense that after I activate Flash, each plays an ad, then I get the news clip. I didn't try FB.

Do you get the ad and no news clip, or do you not even get the ad?

Jscher 2000, I don't even get the ad. It's just a blank black box

Did you try making an exception in uBlock so you can rule out ad blocking as the problem?
