How to use several different email addresses for the same mail server
Every family member has its own email address. Our provider differentiates these email accounts by the email addresses (it seems to be a lot like different identities). I have to enter the same incoming server data for all including the password. Thunderbird will not accept this.
I noticed many people encounter the same issue. I didn't find a good solution yet. I already installed an older version of Thunderbird but it showed the same behavior.
Is there any way how this can be done?: - four (4) different email addresses (XXX@family_name.nl) - for all (4) email addresses the same incoming mail server must be used (family_name.nl). - for all (4) email addresses the same outgoing mail server must be used (family_name.nl). - for all (4) email addresses the same password is required.
I hope somebody can advise me how to get this done...
Thanks very much in advance,
Rene

lets start with a glossary.
- You are are setting up accounts in Thunderbird.
- An email address is an email account.
- Identities are something quite different, they come into play when you have used some sort of mail aggregation on the server so mail from multiple accounts (email addresess) ends up in a single server account
But somehow you have missed the most important thing. What is the error message your getting when you try and add these accounts with the new account wizard? If you want meaningful diagnostics you really must provide good information. The only way we have of knowing about you and your problem is by what you tell us.
