I downloaded several chapters from an online book I was reading prior to an appointment. I put each chapter into Reader View. Then I turned off WiFi access. This was about 2 hours prior to the appointment. I left Firefox on the regular view page I had loaded the chapters from. When I tried to read all the chapters, Reader View immediately tried to download the page and failed and gave me an error about my Internet connection. "Back" didn't work, all the previous downloaded, static pages were gone.

I tested this at home. If you leave Firefox on a Reader View page and turn off WiFi access, the page is left as is. If you leave the page and return to it, the page is lost and needs to be downloaded again.

Is there a setting or something to prevent this ... behavior?

This started happening in the past 2 days. I would navigate through a page or a forum to an article or listing that I want to read. when I go to the link, the page goes into reader mode, refreshes rapidly, and usually crashes to a previous screen. It’s been happening on almost every website I go to. In addition, if I press the shift key, the debug window opens and closes. Things I’ve tried:

It’s only Firefox, I don’t get this behavior in chrome, brave, or duckduck I’ve disabled extensions, and tried troubleshooter mode I’ve disabled hardware acceleration I’ve cleared cache I’ve wiped Firefox from my system and did a clean install I’ve wiped Firefox and installed an older version

None of these have worked. I’d like to keep Firefox on my pc because I’ve used it since the beginning. Any help would be appreciated.

Is it possible to use reader view in dark mode if the system is set to light? This is possible in Safari and for me to use Firefox as default I need it to work (brain injuries).

I asked ChatGPT why images were missing and this is what it said. I'm not sure whether this is a general issue with reader view on all browsers, or just Firefox. I'm using the latest version on Windows 10.

I have a problem with a Hubpages article when I enter reader view—not all the images are shown. A few things you can do:

Don't rely solely on Reader View Compare the Reader View version against the normal page. Pay particular attention to image-heavy articles. Use "Save Page As" instead After scrolling to the bottom and allowing everything to load, save the page as "Web Page, Complete". This saves the HTML and associated images locally. You can then inspect the saved page if you're unsure whether an image was missed. Reader view is only 172 words and misses out most of the content.

Does anyone know why this happens?

Firefox guidance says the reader view button should be in the address bar. This seems to have been replaced with an ai feature that is not a replacement for reader. No other menu seems to have a reader view option either. Please help as this feature was critical for making webpages accessible.

A tab opens, but I just get an animated dot on the tab and nothing is shown. Is the feature not available in Reader View? Also Reader View doesn't seem to strip out everything, lots of clutter seems to be left in the markup.

On this page https://www.apc.org/en/project/member-engagement-and-travel-fund the first section of text is missed out from reader view - so that the text starts half way through the article. I understand the table will be ignored - and the internal table of contents links at the very top, but there is a paragraph in between those things that is being ignored entirely. The normal text parts should all be included for the article to make sense.

I have tried changing the markup so the paragraph was not inside the same div as the table or table of contents but this does not seem to make any difference.

Google chrome reader view handles the page fine.

Any tips no how to change markup to avoid this or is there a way to fix it?

Reader view doesn't work on many Lifehacker pages/articles. Can something be done to make it work on those pages? Here's an example:

Start Firefox, open four tabs, separate them into four, and place them in a specific position on one of the monitors, all separately. How can I ensure that the next time I restart the system, when I start that Firefox profile, they all open in that position and separated? Artificial intelligence says that it would be impossible for Firefox to do something like this, as its native problem does not allow it to do so.

For now, I have set up a macro to do it automatically, but that takes time. I would like it to happen automatically when I start up.

Another thing, it would be nice if Firefox allowed you to zoom in on a specific area of the screen, and then be able to minimize the screen manually as much as possible, leaving only the zoomed-in part visible. Unfortunately, I've been doing this through inspect and deleting things on the page, but it would be great if they added it.

It would be great to be able to save reader mode pages locally (especially on desktop)
