Any way to insert a dividing line in list of messages like was in Seamonkey (or Netscape?) so can separate batch(s) of emails downloaded til I can look through them so they can be easily grouped/found?

I need to comply with new Microsoft authentication requirements before Sept 16, or I will lose use of Thunderbird for my Hotmail email. Trying to update the server settings does not work; my email program does not send or receive emails after changing the Authentication Method. The only other option I know of is to Remove my Thunderbird Current Account, and Re-Add it... if so: If I remove my account account & then re-add it, Do I lose all my previous emails (which I have several years worth)... If so, what should I do in advance, before I remove my account, to save all my previous emails? Are there other updates/work-arounds with this Microsoft Authentication issue? When/how/where info will be most appreciated.. Thank you, Paul Ricker

I have Thunderbird in 3 computers. I downloaded the upgrade this week and a lot of changes took place. Then I got locked out? All kinds of colors turned themselves on, then it kept asking me if I wanted to change a function???? I kept saying no, then yes. It continued to ask. Turned off the computer and worried if I get my old stuff back. Today it is working but incoming mail is in the lower part of the screen, old mail is in the top. How do I go back to the old version. This is my desktop

I just turned on my laptop and it asked me to upgrade. NOPE! I've used you guys for years and only made a small donation, sorry. Didn't know you have an app for my Android??? Would have tried it. Does your browser follow and track me like Chrome, which I hate. I will aways speak well of you guys even if I can't go back to the older version. See ya, Randy

I'm getting these notifications multiple times a day. It serves no useful purpose, there is no way to stop them, that I can see and no way to universally shut off this type of notification. Please help!

Dear community, I have recently updated my Thinkpad from kubuntu 22.04 to 24.04, which included an update of thunderbird to version 128.1.0esr (and a switch to a snap package).

However, when I type into the quick filter bar, (i) the whole thunderbird GUI freezes until the filter was applied to my several thousand emails, (ii) which also seems to take much longer than before. Before the update, the filter took maybe ~0.5 seconds or less, it now takes ~4 seconds. A lot for just a few thousand emails. Btw, the same happens if I empty the quick filter field. Just that it seems to take now even longer until it shows all of my emails.

I don't know if anyone can help. I feel more this could be something for a bug report?

Thunderbird is so slow, especially when deleting emails. This has been happening for a month or so. It got better last week, it seemed normal, but it's back to being infuriatingly slow to delete messages. My workflow is very disrupted. Any solutions? I need my time back!

If "Netzero doesn't forward my emails to T-Bird as before," that explains my problem; however, just in case, Netzero is POP, and I only access email from my laptop. BTW, is this recent development, because I started having problems about 4 months ago, fixed it, then about 1 month ago couldn't fix? Thank you again. Dear volunteer, thank you! Netzero doesn't forward my emails to T-Bird as before to laptop, not cell which I don't use for email. My bud and I have spent countless hr.s trying to fix. Automatic updates is on, and I have current version. T-Bird is ~ 100 times better, more user friendly than Netzero's email format, so I really want to use it.

Already a voluntary donor and satisfied Thunderbird user then I suddenly lost many of my folders and could not recover them, asked for support but got none; nobody interested! As a non-techy older person I expect help when necessary so this has been a sobering event, making me question my continued presence here; very disappointed. John

I hope someone can provide me with some advice.

I have used Thunderbird since its birth and have always found it reliable. However the latest release seems to be having problems with moving emails.

Example 1 - I moved an email from my Inbox to a special folder. The email was present in full before the move. Only the header appeared to be copied. I could not undo this and attempting repair on both inbox and other folder failed, as did exit and re-start. The result is that this email is lost.

Example 2 - I went to do a bulk move from the search window (something I have done hundreds of times before without incident). As usual CTRL A, Move to <new folder>, emails greyed out but nothing happens. Exit, return, repeat - same result.

At other times, both these type of operations work fine. But it is unpredictable.

Relatedly, I observe that on start-up the Inbox initially shows as <no messages> and takes several seconds to populate. Also, my auto-filing Rules are also working inconsistently.

These two points, and the two examples, are new issues for me since 128 release. I am using Windows 10 Pro on an HP Envy 17" laptop.

Any suggestions welcome as I am now concerned about losing emails!

Hi Thunderbird community - I use Thunderbird for 14 email accounts. In a couple of them I have a lot of emails.

Recently the software started asking again to Compact, which I stopped doing due to all the temp files that would hang and then bloat my drive.

I accidentally hit Compact today, but I do not see any 'nstmp' files, but instead I see a duplicate 'INBOX-1' showing up.

Is this the new 'temp' file that we should delete in this case (of a hung up compact job)?
