I just download the latest version of Thunderbird, and try to add my pop mail account. But after i enter the info of outgoing server settings, the Continue button is gray and can't be clicked. once I try the test, it says that Thunderbird failed to find the settings for your email account. Can't find a server. Also i find that there is no place enter the password of my mail account.

Die Pfadangabe 'imap://juergen.plenske%40t-online.de@secureimap.t-online.de/INBOX/Junk' des ersten Ordners ist falsch. Der INBOX-Ordner auf t-online heist 'Spam' und funktioniert als zweiter Ordner (unterhalb) korrekt.

When I start Thunderbird, the same message is downloaded each time.

The status bar then reads "Downloading message 2 of 17," except that 17 is now up to 27.

Thunderbird remains in this state. No second message is ever downloaded.

When I close down and restart Thunderbird, it's Groundhog Day all over again.

Trying "Clear Recent History" has no effect on the issue.

I am on Thunderbird 150.0.2 (64-bit) on the release update channel. I'm on a Windows 11 HP Envy Laptop purchased in July 2025.

For the life of me I can't understand the options in View>Folders. The folders in my 3 accounts are sorted differently. In all 3 accounts I simply want 4 folders visible: Inbox, Sent, Spam and Trash. I've already tagged them as 'Favorite Folders' Making selections in the - View>Folders is very confusing for me. Why are there 2 Favorite folders in the list??

I have recently downloaded Mozilla thunderbird, but am having trouble with adding accounts (outlook and gmail). I keep getting the "Authentication failed" error. Have tried other solutions online, like disabling the Account Hub, but nothing changes. I understand that may no longer be a solution. Is there anything else I can try?

I have been working with a new service provider to move my domain and Email service for the past week. The domain move wasn’t an issue, but migrating Email has been a major pain. The new service technical staff had numerous issues just accessing the Outlook account, so copying the inbox and folders turned into a nightmare. Then I installed Office 365, just to access Outlook, and create PST files, which I provided to the new service tech staff, to synchronize all folders, but most of the PST files didn’t end up in the new server.

So, in Thunderbird I created an account for the Outlook service, and that synchronized everything, and was ecstatic! I then attempted to change the correctly synchronized Outlook account on Thunderbird, to the new IMAP server, but I can’t figure out how to change from the Microsoft Exchange Mail Server, to the new IMAP server. Since the Email Addresses on both servers will be the same, and only change with the DNS update to point to the new server, I am unable to create an IMAP account on Thunderbird, along side the Outlook account.

I am at a loss as to what I can do at this point. Can anyone help?

Greetings, I've been using Thundrbird for many years, and now suddenly it won't open, because of a "Bad Image" error. Is Mozilla Thunderbird still usable on Windows 10? This started happening either yesterday (maybe yesternight) or the day before yesterday.

Recently started getting many more mails than usual. many if not all related to setting up an account at a site from which I had not solicited an account. some included requests to acknowledge charges to my account for purchases I had not made charged to payment accounts I did not have. Some I could not read because they were in languages I did not read. My usual practice is to read and then delete emails that I don't need, but the ones I am receiving are so numerous, reading each and then deleting is impractical. I need some way to delete by categories. I don't understand what is causing the flood of emails but I need to stop it if I can. Hidden in the emails I am getting may be some I need and if I delete by categories I may lose some that I need, but at the same time, it is impractical to read and then delete individual messages. mails Anyone have any idea what caused the flood of what appears to be spurious emails, is it some sort of scam or cyber attack?

I am using Mail Merge to send messages, and want to have the date in the body of the message change to the date I actually send the email. Or I have a draft email that I eventually send. Is there a field that will insert today's date (to compensate for me forgetting to change the date manually)?

Unable to add personal Hotmail/Outlook.com account via IMAP with OAuth2 Hi, I'm unable to add my personal Microsoft account (@hotmail.com) to Thunderbird via IMAP despite trying every solution I could find. My setup:

What I have tried:

Manual IMAP configuration with both smtp-mail.outlook.com and smtp.outlook.com as outgoing server OAuth2 authentication — the Microsoft login window opens, I successfully log in, but Thunderbird still throws "Unable to log in at server" Enabled cookies for all Microsoft domains (outlook.com, login.live.com, login.microsoftonline.com) in Privacy & Security settings Enabled 2FA on my Microsoft account and generated an App Password, then tried with Normal password authentication — same error Toggled the experimental Account Hub off and on, tried both the new and old account creation flows Restarted Thunderbird multiple times between attempts

What works: My institutional Microsoft 365 account (@hnu.de) connects and syncs perfectly with identical IMAP/OAuth2 settings. The issue appears to be specific to personal Hotmail/Outlook.com accounts. Has anyone successfully connected a personal Hotmail account recently? Any help is appreciated.

I have installed Mozilla ThunderBird Previously on many machines. Am Familiar with Incoming Email Servers and OutGoing Email Servers ... Also special ports ... POP ... and .... SMTP ... IMAP ... ETC ... GBGB On this Machine ... Dell Latitude ... 128 GB SSD ... 8GB RAM I have Mozilla ThunderBird Installed for as Single Email Account ... OverstreetENGR@Juno.com

When I REPLY to Emails , THIS IS the error message that I get : Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.juno.com timed out. Try again.

There is a message in my Inbox that cannot be deleted or moved. I've tried re-starting Firefox several times to no avail.

The stubborn message is actually completely blank when viewed in Tbird. Also - the stubborn message has already been moved to another folder where it can be read (i.e. message contents available). Yet - this stubborn "ghost" mail message will not disappear from my Inbox!?

I am connected to an Exchange email server - one of the "shared" servers administered by Microsoft.

I had hoped to get away from the insanity of Outlook, but it seems when it comes to email, there is no escape!

And finally FWIW, When I view my Inbox in "Web Outlook", there is no "stubborn ghost message" in the Inbox - the message is where I moved it.

When I delete mails they remain in the Gmail All Mails folder. I have set the setting to move deleted messages to Trash (attached) and I always Empty the Trash manually. In All Mail all the deleted mails are present. In the attached screendump from Gmail webmail it is the mails without any labels in front. (I have unsubscribed to All Mails in TB, but previously these messages would show up as only present i All Mail when searched in TB). Is there a synchronization problem? I have noted that there are two Trash folders in Gmail webmail: 1. in:trash (where Gmail webmail is putting deleted mails which do NOT show up in All Mails) and 2. label:[imap]-trash (where TB is putting deleted mails which DO show up in All Mails). Is that the problem?

Additional question: is there an easy way to permanently delete the mails without label i All Mails?

I have everything I need from my old machine except my e-mail filters. If I copy the whole profile I will lose all of the sent messages and saved messages I have generated since I got Thunderbird up and running on my new machine.

Mail filters for custom headers like List-Unsubscribe, Authentication-Results or Received-SPF copying messages from IMAP accounts to Local Folders do not work on the Yahoo! IMAP account. For example:

(the snippets above are fragments of the msgFilterRules.dat file)

Filters1 and 2 work well on other IMAP accouns, like for example wp.pl. So this is about Yahoo or something is corrupted. My question is, what wrong is here ? And by the way - how to create filter copying all messages from IMAP to Local Folders ? Is better way then filter3 looking for random string in the subject or somewhere else ? Thank you.

Hi, I’m having a recurring UI issue in Thunderbird with the toolbar above the message preview pane.

After some time of using Thunderbird, the area between the message list and the message preview becomes visually corrupted. The toolbar where the Reply / Reply All / Forward buttons should appear either disappears completely or turns into a broken/glitched gray bar.

I attached a screenshot showing the problem.

What I already tried:

Restarting Thunderbird Starting in Troubleshoot Mode Disabling all add-ons Resetting UI/customization settings

These actions help only temporarily. After some time, the issue comes back again.

Additional info:

Windows 11 64-bit Latest Thunderbird version The problem seems random, but happens multiple times per day It affects usability because I lose quick access to reply buttons and message actions

Has anyone experienced something similar or knows what may cause this? Humanity invented email clients 50 years ago and somehow we’re still fighting disappearing buttons like it’s experimental Soviet software. Beautiful continuity of civilization.

If you turn on "Show Timezones" in the New Event window, then close it, and open a New Event window again, the time zones will be shown, but the option will not be checked in the settings, checking it now will hide it instead
