When i delete an e-mail in Outlook or other, the same e-mail disappears in Mozilla . . . and that was not the reason why i came to Mozilla . . . did I something wrong ? ? ?

While attempting a scratch thunderbird install client on my laptop, it returns a message " user_name""passwd" not found on server ( orange mail ) during accunt setup stage, despite of I can access with no problem my mailbox through login in. I did uninstall thunderbird, delete my default '.thunderbird' directory, reinstalled it and same result at same step. I checked with 'nslookup' for IMAP and SMTP Orange servers, they do answer pretty well Can anyone explain where i did the mistake ? I must add, LM was upgraded from LM18 to LM20 and so on, I previously had a working thunderbird client may be lost during various migrations ? Please don't ask me with which LM version it was, sorry. Thunderbird 1:115.18.0+build1-0ubuntu0.22.04.1 from Synaptic + Linux Mint 21.3 All ideas welcome.

I have been runnign Thunderbird for a number of years. Several days ago when I started the app it said it was compacting the Gmail ALL Messages folder. It would never finish. So I downloaded the 139 version of Thunderbird, and installed it. When I try and start it I get a message at the bottom that says tomdyer72@gmail.com: looking up imap.gmail.com. It never comes off of that. After a few minutes, or if I click anywhere else in Thunderbird, I get the "Home - Mozilla Thunderbird (Not responding) at the top of the screen, and it will time out with the cnacle, or continue waiting message.

I have tried uninstalling all versions, and re-downloading the 139, and it still does the same thing. How can I recover this without losing all of my stored emails>

I am running Thunderbird 139.0.2 (64-bit). I have two address books. In Tools > Settings > General > Message List the box beside Show only display name for people in my address book is checked. Nonetheless, the Message List Pane displays several Contacts in my Address Book with both full name and email address.

If I right click on the name and email address in the Message Preview Pane and click Add to address book the name and e-mail address do not revert to Display Name only. If I right click them again there is still the Add to address book option, with no Edit Contact option, as if the Contact had not yet been added.

In some cases after adding the Contact to the address book there is only the Display Name in the Message List Pane but this display name is neither of my address books.

I am looking for an app that I can use to scan business cards, where the output can be easily imported into my Thunderbird address book. Any environment will serve, though I would prefer something that is available in Linux, Windows 10 and Android versions. I really need to free up some real estate on my desk, and getting rid of stacks of business cards would solve most of that problem.

Within the last couple of days, while using Thunderbird, my list of unread emails disappears and I get a box that pops up that says: "The folder 'inbox on johnking2@comcast.net' could not be compacted because writing to folder failed. Verify that you have enough disc space, and that you have write privileges to the file system, then try again." If I click OK, my list of emails returns for a short while. I have no idea what to do, as nothing has changed, that I am aware of. I have a SD hard drive with about 17% space available. This is on a Dell laptop with i7 processor. Please help!

Got new phone. Attendant change my Google PW. It got screwed up. I now have new Google PW and it works fine but Tbird doesn't work. Keep getting the sign below (300 or 400 times Pop UP) see attached. or Panda virus has corrupted it.?? Everything in Tbird works but email. NO comments no note nothing except these annoying useless signs. Fortunately Gmail works. but it is awful. Found a Tbird phone # but just to talk is $100. IF I can get it to work again it would be worth 100 donation. Long time Tbird user (never had a Tbird PW (about 10-15 years)? HELP

For the last 2.5 months, the quick filter function has been painfully slow, taking up to a few minutes to deliver all of the results. We were on v128, but read that this was a known issue, to be fixed in release 131(?). We just upgraded to 139.0.2 and the issue is still present. We have ~12K messages and we're running Win64 on a Surface Pro 10.

Should we downgrade? If so, which version?

Is this annoyance going to be a Yahoo AD every time I open Yahoo? Is Thunderbird "cleaner"; as an option eliminate these useless Ads? Thanks , ART

When I highlight/select an email message and then switch the sort option from Date to From, the same email is no longer highlighted and selected. The highlighting changes to a softer color and I have to select the email message again. The message selected should still be selected when switching the sort option.

bold textUse 4 different email addresses on TB. 2 of them are fine. But the 3rd and 4th email addresses are duplicated for my spouse. Whenever an email is read, it disappears(is permanently deleted) as soon as you leave that account. But the message is still on the server if we log in via Webmail. There must be some setting in TB that I haven't located. But if we delete the message, it gets moved to the Trash folder as would be expected. Had created the 4th account in an attempt to remedy this but no luck!

All these settings work perfectly on outlook 2021. But on Thunderbird, nothing works.
