I can not update Firefox automatically or manually.

Notice comes for an automatic update: Firefox 4.0.1. When I select Update Firefox, A new window with a stripe across the top comes up. At the bottom "Connecting to update server." however this window never changes and there is no update. The procedures for manual update can not be followed because the windows are not as instructed and no update is forth coming.

  1. Exit Firefox (File>Quit) and check that no firefox.exe processes are running in task manager (ctrl+alt+del, processes tab). Try starting Firefox again and checking for the issue.
  2. If that doesn't work, please try to do a manual install. installing firefox
