You will have to take this up with HSBC, it is a limitation imposed by them.

Their US site specifies that it supports Firefox 2.x and 3.x, their UK site specifies that it supports Firefox 3.0 and above.

There are other things that need your attention.

Update the Java plugin to the latest version.
