The Mozilla email icon on the taskbar shows 2 in a superscript. Why? I have no unread emails. Please help.

September 24, 2026 Hello. The problem I just wrote you about has changed a little. Now on clicking the email button the words Yahoo Mail show with the 2 in parentheses just beside them. Before it was the icon with a superscript. Please check what is going on and where those 2 phantom emails are. May you please? Thank you. Helen

if they are in brackets (2) they are in a sub folder of the one they appear beside. Perhaps click in the > to display the sub folder

Hello. Thank you Matt. There's no subfolder that has an unread email. Some days ago no longer than 7 days back 2 email alerts showed above the bottom Firefox Mozilla one. I did not read from whom and when I closed the bottom alert all 3 disappeared. That must be what that (2) could be. There just recently became the mail provider's name in a tile with a (2) beside the name and just above the mail icon on the taskbar. I might be remembering that incorrectly. The point of this query is to find out where those 2 emails are. Could Mozilla do a recovery of the alerts for the last 10 days or more if needed? I recollect the top alert was a long one compared to Mozilla's at the bottom but the one just below the top one was similar to Mozilla's. In retrospect I must have expected to find what they were in the email. Can you help? Thank you for responding. Helen
