How can I import individual PST files into the Local Files of Thunderbird?

ianrodwell13

I am trying to migrate from Microsoft Outlook 2021 to Mozilla Thunderbird. I have successfully imported the email from a number of different email accounts. I would now like to import the archived emails held in a number of PST files. The import tool would seem to be what is required, but it does not seem to allow me to select the PST files that I wish to import. I am concerned that it will try to import all email messages from my Outlook 2021. Is there a way of restricting it to just individual PST files?

Just in case anyone else is interested, I managed to get the Import to work. Since I was migrating away from Outlook anyway, I removed all of the email accounts, leaving just the data files (PSTs). I ran the Import tool to import just the mail from Outlook. It started processing, remaining at 0% complete for about an hour, then finished. I'd say that about 99.9% of the messages were imported, so that saved a lot of hard work.

The only free tool I'm aware of is at https://www.mailstore.com/en/products/mailstore-home/ it lets you import into their format and then export as mbox, which you can them import to thunderbird using the addon, importexporttools NG.

David, Thank you for your prompt reply. Sadly, I have already tried MailStore. But it keeps failing. That is why I was hoping that I could avoid the middle man and use the import function of Thunderbird directly. If you cannot tell what TB what emails to import, I cannot see the point of its Import tool. Ian

All I know is that the TB import tool for Outlook requires that Outlook be installed on the same PC.

Thank you for the valuable information, it helps me a lot.

Well, I didn't do much but stand and watch. I'm glad all worked out. I usually avoid all outlook issues. :)
