Since late on August 26, Thunderbird on my Dell Desktop cannot access my Comcast e-mail. Comcast support directed me to this page

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/automatic-account-configuration

but when I tried to follow the instructions, I get the error message "incoming server already exists" as soon as I enter my password. After an earlier attempt I turned off "Create Accounts in the New Account Hub" after I received the error message below at the same (enter password) stage

"can't access property "cleanup", this[#configVerifier] is undefined"

I am trying for a POP3 setup. Thanks for all assistance.

You might try creating a new Thunderbird profile as a test. My limited experience has found that the New Account Hub is actually pretty good at supplying good settings from its database. That might tell you if the problem is on your end or theirs. If it works, you can migrate your saved mail from the old profile to the new one.

Be aware, though - Xfinity has been having big problems for me and others with their email service - their IMAP and POP3 servers have been up and down since last night. Webmail seems to work as expected. You might want to wait a while before giving up all hope.

Thank you for the excellent advice to wait. To judge from your comment, this may be only a temporary fix, but I just got access via Thunderbird to a day's worth of e-mail.
