Followed AOL Mail instructions and Thunderbird account unusable

I use AOL Mail in Thunderbird for several years. I followed their directions to update security and Removed my TBird Account and then Added it back. My TBird account is not usable. I cannot even write an email. Please advise how to get TBird working again. (I was going to try to "remove account" and try again, but that's not even an option). Help needed.
