How do I get rid of Blinkx as my video search engine?

I am using Fire Fox on a PC Xp SP3 machine. When I do a video search the page opens up and an Icon is displayed stating it is "Powered by Blinx".

I never installed Blinkx. 1) I do not have a tool bar anywhere 2) Doing a normal search on my computer shows nothing. 3) Using Avast, it shows I am not infected. 4) Under the Control Panel inside the Add/Delete Programs there is nothing for Blinkx

Maybe that's normal for Ixquick now -- I see it on the side of video results. (Screen shot attached.) I didn't experiment with it much.

How are you doing your video search? I'm assuming it's not by going to Google and clicking the Video heading there...

Hi jscher2000:

I will put a search word in the browser and then click on videos. It opens up into Blinkx.

While I use Fire Fox my search engine is ixquick

Thanks for responding

I am afraid you maybe correct. I stumbled upon this information and site that explains that ixquick has teamed up with Blinkx. This is terribly sad considering the reputation Blinkx has aquired with it's many unwanted ads and it's tool bar that no one finds easy to get rid of. I have written to the individuals below asking how to remove Blinkx as my video search engine. How much you want to bet I don't hear from anyone....lol.

For anyone with the same problem these are hopefully good contacts, with enough people complaining maybe, someday, we might actually have a choice again.
