How can I choose in which direction a device syncs?

What I like to know is how can tell a device to only upload to the server and others to only download from the server.

I use to be able to do something similar with the old version of Sync, but it seems to be not available in the new version.

You could do this with the old Sync version, but that choice only applied to first initial Sync and not to further Syncs./ You may not ave notice this, but further Syncs should always have been in both directions.
