How to export your Pocket saves

Note: Pocket services will shut down on July 8, 2025. Pocket integration with desktop Firefox will be removed starting in Firefox version 140 and in upcoming Firefox ESR (Extended Support Release) versions 115 and 128. You can export your saved items until October 8, 2025, before they are permanently deleted. To learn more, see this article.

Pocket lets you export your saved items so you can download a backup or view them in other formats. Exported data is sent to the email address connected to your Pocket or Mozilla account. Before exporting, make sure your account email is up-to-date.

Check your account email

Make sure your Pocket or Mozilla account uses a valid, active email address before initiating an export. Your data export will be sent there.

  1. Go to https://getpocket.com/export.
  2. Check the email address shown in the top left of the page.
Note: If your email is incorrect or inaccessible, update it before requesting your export.

Export your Pocket data

  1. Click the Export CSV file button.
  2. You’ll see a message confirming your export request. It can take up to 24 hours for your data to be generated and the CSV file to be sent to your email.
    Tip: Check your spam or junk folder if you don’t see the export email after 24 hours.

Note: We highly recommend you DO NOT delete your content until after you have received your export file. If you delete your content before receiving the export file, we will not be able to restore it for you.

You do not need to manually delete your account or data: your data will remain available for export until 10/08/2025; after which all Pocket user data, including all saved articles, highlights, notes and personal profile information will be deleted automatically.

Common Questions

What happens when I export my saves?

You will be emailed a link to download an export CSV file of your saved links. Check your inbox for this link; it may take more than 24 hours for larger accounts. In some cases, it can take up to 7 days to receive the export email.

The link is active for 48 hours. If you aren’t able to get to it prior to the expiration, you can request a new one by following the steps shown above.

What is contained in the export file?

Your export file will include links (URLs) of your saved items. The export does not extract the text of saved links. Additionally, the export does contain tags or highlights.

Can I export only a select number of items?

This export tool will provide you with a CSV file of all your saves, archives and favorites. It's not possible to export only a set or select number of items, but you'll find them all in your export file.

I did not receive an export file to my email inbox after 7 days. What should I do?

Try again. Sometimes an export can fail. If after a second try, the export still fails, please copy the export ID from your request and email Pocket Support for assistance. This ID can be found in the confirmation email you received.

I deleted my content after initiating an export. However, I never received the export. Can I get my content restored?

Unfortunately, there is no way to restore content once it has been deleted. For this reason, we highly recommend NOT deleting your content until after you have received your export file.
