I have two different versions of 64 bit Firefox installed, one in Program Files and the other in Program Files (x86))
My computer just updated to Firefox 60.0, and I noticed that I have Firefox installed twice... I somehow have Firefox 47.0.1 installed in C:\Program Files\, and Firefox 60.0 installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\ They're both 64 bit versions, the newer one in Program Files (x86).
'Uninstall or change a program' shows that ver 47.0.1 (x64 en-US) was installed 05/02/2018, and ver 60.0 (x64 en-US) was installed 05/13/2018. 11 days apart. That just doesn't make sense. I've never installed (not on this computer or for a few years) Firefox from a download, but have always updated from Help > About.
I don't understand how one (they're both x64) got itself installed in (x86). How did this happen?
I know I can uninstall the older one, but should I do anything about the one installed in the Program Files (x86)? Should I just live with the newer in (x86)?

You should only have one version of FF more then one of the same Browser will cause software conflicts. 64 installs to match your O/S 64 bit version. That is how the new version updates now.
If you want to reinstall Firefox, follow the instructions below. If you just want to remove it, disregard the install instructions.
Let’s do a full clean re-install;
Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link}
Save the file. Then Close Firefox.
Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.
Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86)
Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-download-and-install-firefox-mac
Linux: Check your user manual. If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it. See Install Firefox on Linux; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux
If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder Firefox in your home directory. http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Look for, and remove any Mozilla or Firefox program folders. Do not remove the Mozilla Thunderbird folder if there is one.
Do Not remove any profile folders.

Firefox 56.0.1 was when people who had 32-bit Firefox (on Windows) and were migrated to Win64 Firefox if they had at least 2GB of RAM though 3 to 4GB should be the minimum.
