"updated" to the new firefox and lost all my bookmarks. LOTS of well organized bookmarks! Bookmark toolbox is showing but my bookmarks are ALL GONE!! Is this going to be fixed or shall I switch to a new browser???

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
