Firefox is the default browser on my MAC… used it for years, no problems.

Lately, when I get my daily email from The Washington Post, and I click on a link to an article, Firefox (1) shows me the lead picture as a blur and (2) in a short time, blanks the window.

When I click on “reload,” the article comes back (at the beginning of the piece) with the same fuzzy picture and again, within a minute, blanks the window.

If I use the same links, from the WashPost article, and use Safari, the pictures are clear and the article doesn’t disappear.

I don’t know if it’s related, but when I’m playing a game from the AARP website, and it’s time for a commercial, the window goes blank and I have to reload … which brings up my game where I left off.

I don’t know if it’s relevant, but I have “AdBlock Plus” and “AdBlocker Ultimate.”

Any thoughts ???

Hank

You shouldn't use multiple blocker extensions as they can conflict. Try using uBlock Origin on its own.

Does it still happen in Troubleshoot Mode?

Thank you for your reply. I tried troubleshoot mode ... made no difference. Also disabled one of the ad blockers ... made no difference. I'll stick with Firefox a while longer....

The System Details show that you have three content blocking extensions.

0: {name: Adblock Plus - free ad blocker, type: extension, version: 3.22.1}
1: {name: AdBlocker Ultimate, type: extension, version: 3.8.14}
9: {name: Privacy Badger, type: extension, version: 2023.12.1

You need to disable all three to male sure that they aren't blocking content and are causing your problem.

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, DuckDuckGo PE, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin), always make sure such extensions do not block content.

I disabled all extensions, restarted Firefox, no change. Washington Post articles still show blurred pix, and still disappear after a few minutes ... but not on Safari.

Try changing DNS over HTTPS (DoH) to "Off" or "Max Protection" and in Connection Settings change "Use system proxy settings" to "No proxy".

I tried the DNS and Proxy setting changes ... to no effect.

Thanks for the efforts.

Does it still happen in a new profile? An easy way to test a new profile is to install Developer Edition and see if it happens there or refresh your existing profile. Make sure you stay signed out of your sync account when testing.

Zeroknight,

I thank you for your time and effort; but, it's just not worth it to me to keep trying various solutions, when the easy answer is Safari as my default. I'll still use Firefox for my usual activities, but when I click a link on a news story I want to be able to see/read it.

Does it still happen if you visit The Washington Post directly instead of via a link from an email?
