How does one change the email address on the account?

I tried deleting the account, but I never receive the authorization code from my old email address, so I could not delete the account.

This article will help you to change your email address in your Firefox Account.

You will need access to the existing email account for us to be able to verify your identity as part of the email address change.

Ok, I tried that, but to do that I have to get an authorization number at my old email address and I never receive it.

If you cannot access emails in that account, we will not be able to verify you for the change in email address.
