The AI tab thing is a problem for me for multiple reasons. I found various articles about how to turn it off. They pointed to the following setting: In about:config set the setting "browser.tabs.groups.smart.enabled" to false, and then restart Firefox.

However, when I do that, and then immediately go back to about:Config to check the setting, it has changed itself back to "true".

Other settings accept and keep permanent changes. This means that I'm not forgetting to save the change or anything. Just this one setting (which turns off something causing me problems) refuses to actually stay set.

I see the answer to this question https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1509077 and tried looking there. There is a completed study called "Smart Tab Groups Rollout", but since it is in the "Completed Studies" group, I cannot remove it.

I'm using the AI Chatbots plugin in the sidebar and I'm trying to log into Claude, but the plugin keeps asking for a verification code and Anthropic only sends a magic link email which doesn't work in this situation.

Rasbperry Pi 5 desktop OS -> Firefox 142.0.1 (aarch64) -> Open application menu -> Settings -> Sync -> Sync logged into firefox account -> Syncing: ON -> tap Sync Now -> Syncing... -> complete in 5-10 seconds.

Phone iPhone 11 iOS 18.5 -> Firefox app -> not synced.

It seems I have to not just open phone's Firefox browser, but navigate to the phone's Firefox's Sync settings and then I see Firefox phone app syncing.

Unintuitive, needs improvement or some notification to remind of small human needed interactions.

when i login in to my instagram account it say "your browse dosen't support this page download the newer version of mozilla fire fox to login " also when i login my whatsapp it says the same "update your fire fox" so,i did update as per the instruction and restarted to make it work still both the pages shows the same.

While you can disable event listeners in developer tools, the site may still load them later during use. Is there a way to prevent them from loading or at least automatically disable them as soon as they load without using developer tools?

What version of Firefox actually allows you to add extensions? I'm running the most current version of Tumbleweed that ships with 144.0. Attempts to add extensions just sit there doing nothing until I close the tab. This sort of worked some time ago (I forget the version) but the inability of Firefox to allow add-ons/extensions is getting to be a joke. There are other browsers out there, ya know.
