Every so often, Firefox fails to display a video. In this example, Firefox briefly displays what appears to be the first frame, then displays the message "The Media Could Not Be Played". I've tried with Troubleshoot Mode, and clearing history (cache, cookies, site settings, offline website data). How can I find out what's blocking? The example is a Twitter post on Wed 08/17/2022. I hope it is still there. https://twitter.com/i/status/1551522653705576449

Hi,

I saved a new login on Firefox Android, but this did not sync to the desktop version. I tried syncing manually on both devices (which kind of defeats the point) and still no avail. The option to sync logins is activated on both devices, so I don't know what the problem is. I have tested this twice (two passwords saved on Android) and on both occasions they didn't sync to the desktop.

I also tested the process the other way around by saving a new login on the desktop and that synced to Android just fine!

Please help.

The last time I downloaded your update, I think it was in May, 2022, you apparently downloaded the version for Windows 10. It would not work with my windows 7. By the time I got it fixed I had lost ALL my bookmarks, history, etc. Now you are offering the latest download, I believe it is July. I am afraid to download it for fear I might lose all my bookmarks again. Can I just ignore the download. I DO NOT want to go to Windows 10 or 11. I am 95 years old and I like to stick to what I know. What is the situation with you and Windows 7 at this time? Are you no longer offering it? Thanks for your help. You may e-mail me at memawplus@gmail.com PS Even though I supposedly had backed up my bookmarks they would not download to the newest Firefox. I have had Firefox since Firefox 1.0 (October 2004). In fact I still have the original instruction manual and the disk. If you have any need for that for your library I would be happy to send it to you. (In case you couldn't figure it out, I am a string saver). Marjorie Rogers

I'm seeing an issue in the latest release of Firefox (103.0.2) & Firefox developer edition (104.0b10) when working with a manifest v2 web extension. The issue is not present in Firefox Developer edition (100.0b9) and below.

When calling browser.windows.create() - passing valid options for height & width is resulting in a completely invalid and unexpected size for the resulting window. The code to reproduce the behavior is below.

This is being run in a background script of the extension.

```
 const width = props.width ?? Math.round(window.screen.width * 0.8);
 const height = props.height ?? Math.round(window.screen.height * 0.8);
 // center by default
 const top = props.top ?? Math.round(window.screen.height / 2 - height / 2);
 const left = props.left ?? Math.round(window.screen.width / 2 - width / 2);
 console.log(
   `In openWindow width ${width} height ${height} top ${top} left ${left}`
 );
 const newWindow = await browser.windows.create({
   url: props.url,
   width,
   height,
   top,
   left,
   type: 'popup',
 });
``` The console.log result is ``` In openWindow width 3072 height 1728 top 216 left 384 ``` These are valid numbers for the screen I am working on (standard 4k displays). I am running 3 screens, all hiDPI - two are default 4k external monitors, the third is the built in laptop display.

I have not yet tested the result on other operating systems - however I am running macOS Monteray v12.4.

When running in version 100.0b9 and below, I see a centered screen ~80% of the monitor width and height appear. When I run in the current versions, I see the window briefly flash at full screen, then immediately downsize to a very small window in the upper left corner.

Please see a brief recording of the working version of Firefox Developer Edition compared to the broken version of standard Firefox here: https://monosnap.com/file/80IEHdqgSVND0ZsXKtXkxVPsNINSQd

I am running the exact same extension build in both versions.

When I attempt to download a large file, for example this one, Firefox often:

  1. consumes my entire available Internet bandwidth, leaving other applications and devices unable to connect to the Internet, or even to other devices on my LAN.
  2. hangs, i.e. the download doesn't show any progress in the Firefox UI

When I attempt to cancel the download, Firefox does not react. Even if I close Firefox, the download continues to absorb the entire available network capacity. The PC (runniong Windows 10 21H2) can not be shut down normally; I can only stop the process by pressing and holding the PC's power button to effect a hard shutdown. When I restart the PC and restart Firefox, Firefox automatically attempts to resume the failed download, with the same results described above. How can I prevent Firefox from hogging all available network capacity for downloads? How can I terminate hung downloads in a more elegant manner? How can I prevent Firefox from attempting to resume failed downloads the next time I start it? I am currently using Firefox 103.0.2. AFAIK, this is also the latest version at this time.

Hi, There is very little help if you can still log in in FB and Twitter but you lost all your feed and messages. It happened after refreshing FF. Switched both profiles in about:profiles. Logged out and in in both. All there is left is, check if Java script is enabled. Pretty desperate, but I'll try. So I am looking for my web content. According to this, I have to look for "list all tabs" under the "carrot icon". I can't find it.

I need to connect to http://localhost/ but Firefox will not allow me to do so.

It tells me: "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading".

This behaviour persists after:

- Clearing the cache. - Reinstalling the browser. - Disabling the Firewall.

I am using Firefox 103.0.2 on Linux Mint 21.

Many thanks.

Hi all,

My Firefox version is 102.0.1.

I upgraded my desktop from Ubuntu 20.04 LTS to 22.04 LTS.

I removed Firefox from snapd and installed as a deb package.

I noticed these events happening on my system:

1. No voices on getVoices():

  https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/SpeechSynthesis/getVoices

2. On my system,

$ spd-say -O OUTPUT MODULES espeak-ng-mbrola espeak-ng

$ spd-say -L NAME LANGUAGE VARIANT

spd-say -L outputs an empty table, even though spd-say "Hello world" works.

The second module espeak-ng has voices installed. Running spd-say -o espeak-ng -L produces a long table.

Iam not sure if this is a Firefox issue or an Ubuntu issue.

Every time I launch Firefox a message appears on the top right corner asking to update with the following text: "Update available Download the latest version of Firefox"

I have never followed this message for I've suspected fake, but it keeps appearing, and every time more and more often along the day (at the beginning it was only once per launch). This keeps occurring in spite of updating to the latest Firefox update (103.0.2) through the "About Firefox" top left menu on my Mac.

Please advise how to get rid of this annoying message. Is this a potential hack or virus attack?

Hi, I have noticed this behavior for a while now and it is becoming bothersome now. It seems to happen ONLY upon initial visit to a site, any site. Once the site loads completely, any links from there loads without the black screen.

Of course, I have searched and tried the known remedies: 1) graphics driver. Chrome, Konqueror and other browsers do not exhibit this behavior. 2) FF add-on's disabled. No permanent difference. 3) Hardware acceleration disabled. No permanent difference.

I'm running 103.0.2 (64-bit) on: Operating System: Kubuntu 22.04 KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.92.0 Qt Version: 5.15.3 Kernel Version: 5.17.5-051705-generic (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ i7-6700 CPU @ 3.40GHz Memory: 23.4 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: llvmpipe

This is not a deal breaker but should be addressed to make FF more perfect! Best... Hong Son

Disqus is not accepting ANY attempts to upload images and is fairly new...started rejecting image uploads a couple of weeks ago. Uploading still works fine on Chrome.

THIS is the error message:

Unfortunately your image upload failed. Please verify that your image is in a supported format (JPEG, PNG, or GIF) and under 5MB. If you continue seeing this error, please try again later.

Using FF 103.0 and Ubuntu 18.04. I tried again in troubleshooting mode...didn't help

(There are several sites that work well on Chrome but are glitchy one way or another on FFox. I don't like to use (or have to switch to) Chrome for workarounds!)

Is there something I can tweak on my FFox to fix this?

Hello dear Firefox experts,

I have been using Firefox for years and of course I would like to continue doing so. :-)

I work with Windows 10 and have learned to appreciate the virtual desktops, which can be set up via the key combination "Windows + Tab". About the desktops can then be distinguished, for example, in "Office" and "Private".

In total, I have actively set up 4 different desktops.

FF I have set up as the "default app" in the Windows settings.

Now it is the case that I have a Firefox window open in the "private desktop", for example.

But when I work in the "office desktop" and click on a URL, the office desktop automatically switches to the private desktop and opens the URL in the FF already opened there in a new tab! :-(

So I have to remember before to open a new Firefox window in the office desktop to display the desired page also on this desktop.

Unfortunately, this doesn't always work.

If I work in the meantime in another of the 4 active desktops and use Firefox there and return to the office desktop and want to open a URL there again, the desktop jumps back to where I last used the already opened FF. This is quite annoying in the long run.

That's why I ran a test today with Google Chrome and MS Edge and defined each of them as the default app for testing.

Stupidly, these two browsers work exactly as I want them to. If I have already opened one of these browsers in another desktop, the URL will still open in the current desktop and any additional URL as another tab will correctly open in the current desktop.

If I now switch to the private desktop and open a URL there, it will correctly open in a new tab in this desktop.

I hope I was able to illustrate my "problem" so far?

Now my question? How can I change the behavior in FF? This seems to be a standard of FF in contrast to both other browser programs. Disabling in the FF settings "Open links in tabs instead of new windows" seems to be only a rudimentary solution;

but then a new window is opened every time, which is also not useful.

Can something be adjusted in the "deeper" settings?

Many thanks in advance for your tips.

Best regards, Georg
