Two days ago I closed firefox and shutdown my computer. A few hours later I tried getting onto firefox and it didn't do anything so I had to force quit it. I've tried multiple times to get back on to no avail. I tried to reset firefox that didn't work. I tried starting it in safe mode, that at least brought up a window like it was going to work but all it did was give me the spiny ball for about an hour. I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it. I've even went through my whole computer and deleted everything associated with firefox (including caches) restarting my computer, reinstalling firefox, and restarting my computer again. I can never even get a window to pop up unless I use safemode (but that freezes and doesn't even load a page).. All I get is "application is unresponsive". The only thing I could think of (cause it is the only thing I did to my browser) is that a day or so before I closed firefox I had to take a survey for a job that required me to check the box "delete history when firefox closes." I forgot to change it back before I closed the browser and I can't get back to the preferences to change it back because the whole thing is unresponsive.

Then the profile was infact deleted somehow, the article I posted before should help you make a new one.

Have you tried creating a new profile?

Also check for malware that could be blocking firefox.exe(check with ALL programs.

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

According to my computer I don't even have a profile for firefox. It could be because I deleted everything in my computer related to firefox the first time. Even when I re-download it, it doesn't give me a profile. Also, I am not sure if it makes a difference or not but, I have a mac. I did go to the library and application support to look for my firefox profile though, and it didn't have it.
