Why has Firefox Sync stopped working?

Over the past three days, I've been getting an error saying "Sync encountered an error while syncing: Unknown error. Sync will automatically retry this action." It retries, or I try it myself, and it fails. Nothing has changed on my system in the past few days. My upgrade to FF4 was weeks ago so that's not the problem.
