In the past couple days I have lost the ability to choose (browse) the location when saving a file.

It will only allow downloading into the downloaded folder.
I have selected "always ask me where to save files." in the options.
I have uninstalled firefox and reinstalled it. This has not helped.
The browse feature is gone in the save window as well as the open file window.

To add an image to this question I had to move it to the specific folder that opens to get the screen shot to you.

It did not give me the option to browse and find it. Also you can see the file name area is also missing at the bottom of the window as well.

This is only happening in Firefox. No other program has been effected.

I hope you can help. I would hate to be forced to use another browser. Thanks so much.

I would first check to make sure that the profile folder is not read only by right clicking on the folder:Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data

Second I would check to see if there are any locked preferences or corrupt preferences saved. What to do if you can't download or save files or https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/change-firefox-behavior-when-open-fi...

Last resort: Refresh Firefox: Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings
