Hello, I did just make a clean reinstallation of Thunderbird and while going through the setting I have notices that at Passwords / Save Passwords / `Show Passwords` my Account Passwords can be access with less effort.
My question now is, why is this even a feature?
In my mind, this should be by default off. Or at least informed me at the first account setup that my passwords are visible in the Settings, and if I want to set up a Master Password as well.
Is there an option to have the Button `Show Password` disable? Or if a Master Password have to be, then set it for only access `Show Password` but not for the login in to Thunderbird.

I'm experiencing an issue with using my digital signing certificate in Thunderbird. I have imported a p12 certificate into Thunderbird on my Ubuntu system, and everything seemed to go fine during the import. However, when I try to digitally sign my emails, I receive an error message that says, "Certificate Manager can't locate a valid certificate that can be used to digitally sign your messages with an address of [XXX@XYZ]." It is hosted by an academic institution using office365 products.
I have checked the certificate details and noticed that the Basic Constraints section shows "Certificate Authority: No" marked as critical. I’ve seen that certificates on the internet often have different settings, and I’m wondering if this might be causing Thunderbird to not be able to find my certificate. I have checked the authority settings and both boxes are marked.
I am running the latest version of Thunderbird on Ubuntu, and I have verified that the certificate is imported under "Your Certificates" in Thunderbird's Certificate Manager. My email address in Thunderbird matches the one on the certificate, but the error persists. I would appreciate any help.

When more than one copy of an iMap account exists, there is a problem with Junk mail learning. Namely, the learning only occurs on the computer where the user declares mail to be Junk, not on other copies of the same iMap account. It has been suggested that Training.dat be copied from one account to another, but that wipes out any training that has occurred on the copies that receive the new Training.dat file. A merge is needed.
So... Does THIS work? Go to the Junk folder and select all mail in it. Mark all the mail as Junk (seemingly redundantly). Unless Thunderbird makes a special case of NOT learning from marking mail as Junk when it already is, this ought to work, right?
This update automatically installed on March 7th. All of the subfolders unser my Inbox folder older than March 5th have disappeared.

I put some messages into folders yesterday and then created another folder and dragged the first folder into it to become a subfolder.
When I did this, I saw the new folder but it couldn’t be expanded to show the subfolders.
All other mail clients showed the correct hierarchy except Thunderbird.
Why is this happening?
Secondly, I post comments on the thunderbird blog regularly but they never show up. Where are they disappearing to? Are you receiving them?

Something changed such that copies were no longer sent to my sent file under Inbox. My email is run through web.com and they said it was not their issue and then the next web.com guy said it was their issue. At present messages do get copied if I set "copy to Sent on local folder" but then I don't have access to them away from the office. I am not tech savvy so I don't know what the issue actually is other than an email I sent on February 24, 2025 at 12:50 was the least copied to that file since I started using TB years ago. Any help is appreciated.

I use 128.7.1esr (64-bit) on Windows 11 23H2. OS Name Microsoft Windows 11 Home Version 10.0.22631 Build 22631 I use two monitors: Monitor 1 is physically straight in front of me, and Monitor 2 is to the left, so in Settings > System > Display the box on the right is numbered 1, and the box on the left is numbered 2.
Since the latest TB update, each time I switch on the PC in the morning, TB (and FF) open on Monitor 2, even though I closed them down on Monitor 1 the previous night. This behaviour used to happen occasionally, now it seems to happen every time. Also, occasionally during the day, the TB Reminders window will jump to Monitor 2 while it's minimised.
I suppose the first question is - is this a TB/FF problem or a Windows problem? I'm thinking it must be a TB/FF problem, because this behaviour only seems to be happening with them.
Any suggestions would be welcome.

I read the solution for my same problem- quoted below. This does not fix the problem for me. Every time I change the SMTP outgoing address for one account the other account gets changed to match it.
"It is exactly as I suspected: all the SMTP servers have the same description. To fix the problem, you need to edit each of them in the account settings>Outgoing Server (SMTP) pane and give each a different DESCRIPTION. Since they all have the same name, Thunderbird goes with the default. I suggest putting each email id within the description field for easy identification. Do that for all four SMTP servers. Then, click the account page for each, and at bottom of pane, click and set the appropriate SMTP server.

When I open up my Thunderbird to get emails I keep getting getting error code 0x80570015. I can't see attachments and cannot respond to emails. Also cannot delete emails. I Iooked it up to see how to fix it and they say to remove the "lightning" add on. When I go under tools and look for this add on, it is not there. In fact it doesn't seem that I have any add-ons. Something to do with the calendar which I don't even use. It says Thunderbird is up to date. Could you please give any advice how to fix it. Thanks, Matt

I have several Google accounts. For each one, the first time I checked my mail, I got a Thunderbird pop up saying "See, edit, share, and permanently delete all the calendars you can access using Google Calendar" and another Thunderbird pop-up saying "See, edit, download, and permanently delete your contacts", followed by two "Mozilla Thunderbird Email was granted access to your Google Account" emails to each account.
And for all accounts but one, that was the end of it. But for one account, for some reason, I have to go through the whole authorization process again each time I start Thunderbird. I tried deleting the account, and Thunderbird still made me go through the whole authorization process -- for an account that no longer existed!
I re-created the account. No change.
Any idea what the problem is? It started after a Thunderbird update.
