This is the message when I start firefox

The bookmarks and history system will not be functional because one of Firefox's files is in use by another application. Some security software can cause this problem.

Even though I have settings set to load previous tabs when Firefox is started up but when it is restarted it doesn't load the tabs. This has only occurred the last few days. My solution is to select "reopen all windows" which does what I want but also opens several other versions of Firefox. Noteworthy, confusing, but probably not associated: In the course of trying to work through this, I have had a baseball playing on Chrome. I ended up closing out Chrome but the baseball game audio continues even though the Chrome appears to be closed on the taskbar.

I'm using Ubuntu 24 with the XFCE desktop. I'm installing the debs straight off packages.mozilla.org (currently 143.0.3).

Firefox's title bar, and window manager buttons do not have the same look and feel as the rest of my windows. And I have no idea where they're coming from.

They do change appearance in response to picking the different styles in Settings > Appearance, but the changes appear to be limited to colors only. The minimize, maximize and close buttons look differently than on all other windows, and they are more spread out than in, and the shade button is nowhere to be found.

I'm attaching two small images, the first one is the standard set of widgets all other windows have, and the second one is Firefox's odd duck. I could not find anything in settings. "Extensions And Themes" shows that "System theme" is enabled. Well, it's coming up a bit short...

I recently swapped to firefox and have had issues with my tabs crashing. There are days where a tab will repeatedly crash, or not at all. It always crashes on 1 tab. I've tried most of the suggested solutions, profiles change, addon troubleshooting, hardware acceleration, updating/reinstalling. Currently on windows 11.

Thunderbird Email - I am not receiving emails from my energy supplier (E.ON Next) - they say they bouncing. This started around Jan 25. I have spoken to them many time but no joy. E.ON receive emails I have sent to them and I am able to receive emails from just about anyone else eg shop, banks, contacts, etc etc . Can you help me fix this/explain why it is happening? I have had Mozilla Thunderbird for many years and used it daily. Now you are writing to me that you want to close my mail program because I haven't used it for 2 years.

I have 2 email addresses linked to Mozilla Thunderbird: kurtj1942@hotmail.com and kurtj1942@gmail.com. I can receive emails from the Hotmail account, but I cannot send. From the Gmail account, I can both send and receive. Why can't I send from the Hotmail account?

Just over a week ago, I found that a particular page transition always crashed by browser tab (i.e. a reproducible crash). This occurred on the Quora.com website when visiting the 'Questions' tab for any Quora Space. I am not aware of anything special associated with this operation, and it works OK in Chrome. There may be other cases -- outside of that particular website -- but that is the one most affecting me at the moment.

There are no associated Windows events logged. I checked about:crashes and the Crash Report folder but i cannot find any readable details.

If I refresh the page then the transition occurs without problem.

I would like to find the cause myself because I am on an Windows 7 64-bit ESR version, although I do not believe this is an ESR issue as it was working fine a couple of weeks ago. it is just that I cannot find any logged information on the cause.

My c: disk is getting full, so I decided to transfer my Thunderbird profile to d: . My old Tbird profile has profile folders for two POP accounts and two IMAP accounts. I managed to copy the profile and set up new accounts and now emails work, but in the process I disconnected the old profile on c: . When trying to create a new account on c: (so that I can access the old profile to delete old mails and get more space) I run into either "incoming server already exists" or I am asked a password which I can't find.

Any help would be highly appreciated! Should I just delete the old profile, or is there a procedure to safely remove it? Or is a Tbird reinstall in order? Thanks!

Most of the questions I have are either not answered at all or not answered in help or in forums and I'm unaware of any responses to questions I've asked. Isn't there any way to get support from a live person? My questions are often quite complicated. When I ask a question, I get dozens of answers that have nothing at all to do with my question and I don't have time to look thru all the answers. When I do see an answer that might be relevant, it either isn't or the answer is far too technical.

For example, I have no sent folder. Cant understand answers that tell how to create one. Need to be able to save my sent messages. Having to cc myself to get a copy of a sent message - stupid situation.

I am switching from Outlook to Thunderbird because of complicated problem with Outlook. Got garbage when imported csv contact file and can't find how to delete a large number of contacts. Reluctant to use your specific Outlook import in case it brings the Outlook problems along.

Really need help with lots of things making the transition. 'bold text'
