I have asked this question before. In my backup of a previous Thunderbird version things went wrong and all I could find were the MSF combo. ie... MSF and File. I was told I could not extract any messages out of this file combination.

I then loaded Turgs a 3rd party programme.

See the results of using this programme in the attachement.

In view of this, I need to know how to get these folders into my nesw Thunderbird installation. The programme gives the option of converting the MSF files into MBOX files.

There is not a help file so I'm trying to figure out how to send the converted files MBOX to my new Thunderbird installation.

In the decade(s) I've used TB, I've had 3 accounts: 1) Tom Luce; 2) President Hurah; 3) hhecoordinator.

I neve had the problem that has started in the last year (maybe) after I got the Thunderbird revision(?) I will be in my <tomfluce@gmail.com> account and I send a message to a church address: <bfuu-sjc@googlegroups.com> and another address in the same church, <board@bfuu.org> These are multiple addresses for committees. Then I get "Delivery Status Notification (Failure)" back in my Acct.3 <hhecoordinator@gmail.com> saying that my email sent to these committees was not delivered because this account doesn't recognize or use the address perhaps because I don't have permission. Well my problem is that why Account #3 <hhecoordinator@gmail.com> is involved at all in my message through Acct. 1)<tomfluce@gmail.com> This has confused me thinking I should try again or I find the individual names of the address of the committees---lots of extra time. Any suggestions about how to separate completely these two accounts? Thanks for all Thunderbird has done for me for so many emails helping a program in Haiti for disenfranchised young people. As of last week, FF works for a few minutes on startup, but then when you open a new tab and try to go to a site you just get the dancing period, nothing opens. Already open tabs with sites generally still work, but sometimes crash the tabs after a bit. We've tried starting without extensions, uninstalling and reinstalling FF, changing the profile, logging in the PC (Win 10, up to date) with a different login, running SFC and DISM on the PC, and just about everything else.

Opening the FF console shows this message when the tab just rocks the period:

Edge works perfectly (and unfortunately, I'm having to use Edge to enter this ticket.). Other applications don't have any issues. I'm not having this issue on 2 other similar PCs I have that run FF, only this one.

All email disappeared from folder after trying to repair folder. TB has been extremely dysfunctional to the point where I haven't been able to use it at all. I have been trying to diagnose the problem and following steps here https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird:Testing:Memory_Usage_Problems as previously suggested. I tried repairing and all mail has now disappeared, further compounding the dysfunctional behaviour of TB and the daunting task to try and get TB fixed. Help/advice much appreciated.

First noticed that the Help About screen says "Unable to check for updates due to internal error. Updates available at https://www.thunderbird.net/"

Then trying to view Settings to change automatic update, it will not display. Account settings will display, not general Thunderbird Settings.

Tried to reinstall Thunderbird but did not fix the problem.

I've gotten a couple of reports from Firefox users. Users report odd text formatting when typing 1st and 2nd on the body of an email when using Outlook web browser. See attached image.

I tested this on my production machine, and I'm also seeing the odd text formatting.

I've cleared my cache, uninstall/reinstall a fresh Firefox version, I've used a Private browser window, and I am still running into this issue.

I'm using a M1 MacBook Air. Currently on macOS Sonoma 14.6.1 - Firefox version 131.0.3. I have a user who has a M3 MacBook Air on Sonoma 14.5 - Firefox version 126.0.1

I use the latest version of Thunderbird on MacOS Sonoma 14.6.1. I have had a strange login/security issue twice in the past two weeks.

First activity in the morning about 10 days ago I noticed Thunderbird displaying many "Unable to get email, password incorrect messages" stacked on top of each other. Other native email clients on my other Apple devices were also unable to retrieve email. I contacted the email provider and they said the account was sending spam and they had blocked the account. They could offer no other information, such as whether the account had been hacked or password changed. After going through their security protocols they were able to restore the account and I changed the account password, from a reasonably strong 6 random characters to very strong 16 random characters with multifactor authentication enabled. After restarting Thunderbird, it was not possible to set the client password and get the client to function. I restored the profile from an older backup, copied the current mail folders into it, started Thunderbird, set the email password, and it started functioning again.

Today, about ten days later, first activity in the morning again found Thunderbird in the above state with numerous stacked password incorrect messages. However, this time email is functioning on my other devices, and I was able to login normally to my email provider's administration system. Perhaps the timing was such that the provider had not yet detected an issue and frozen the account.

This would lead me to believe that something on my Mac or associated with Thunderbird was responsible for the issues I am having. Multiple scans of the computer with Malewarebytes finds no viruses on the system. All help is appreciated.

I've tried every program I could think of ... malwarebytes, antivirus programs, rootkit removal programs, quick scanners, etc. I uninstalled FireFox and reinstalled it. Every time I think it's resolved, it comes back. And I notice it's always popping up in FireFox. Any suggestions? Thanks. Dave

Hi. Using Posteo with Thunderbird, Windows 10.

Twice now an email has simply vanished when all I did was left-click on the email in the left side pane email list, i.e. the Subject line heading. Each time it is an email sent to my Posteo email address, not anything synced.

I did not click on Delete or anything else.

I have searched every folder for the missing emails, they are nowhere to be found. They are not in the Deleted items folder or any other folder.

This is a recent problem, in the last few weeks.

I checked on my Posteo webmail, and there is no sign of the emails there either - so they have vanished from both. Inexplicably.

Has anyone got any suggestions as to what is happening, why, and if there is a way of retrieving the emails? Thanks.

I either can't view contents of any of my older emails in Thunderbird at all (see accompanying picture), or in some cases, they just show html text code. (Both the inbox and sent directories are affected.) I have followed the Thunderbird troubleshooting suggestions (e.g. disabling add-ons), and clearing the cache, but the problem remains.

My Thunderbird mail directory on the PC is D:\All Users\Thunderbird\Profiles\Macdonald\Mail\pop.broadband.rogers.com\inbox.sbd

FYI - The inbox contains ~7600 messages, while Sent has ~2180 messages.
