VPN usage doesn't reset

Bella's Mom

For almost two months my free VPN says 39.5 GB of VPN. I don't use it that often. It's off pretty much every day. I went from September to October and it never reset back to 50. I'm going to monitor to see what happens in November, but does it count usage by having it active and available in the bar even though I don't turn it on? Should I deactivate it off the bar until I want to use it?

Hi, are you signed in to the Firefox Account?

Yes, I'm always logged in to Firefox.

Hello Bella's Mom,

Having the VPN icon in your toolbar doesn't use your monthly data. The 50 GB limit applies to traffic routed through Firefox's built-in VPN, so you don't need to remove the icon when you're not using it. Your allowance should reset at the start of each calendar month.

There was also a known bug where the usage counter didn't refresh until the VPN connected, and Mozilla marked it fixed. Try updating Firefox and briefly connecting the VPN to refresh the display. If it still doesn't reset, please share your Firefox version.
