I just bought my boyfriend a new iMac. We are having trouble loading many sites and platforms using the latest Firefox browser. The list is growing but includes Facebook, Meetup, Wikipedia, chess.com, nytimes.com - in all cases, rather than a login screen, we get an error message or a home page loads with no access to other pages or login area. I've cleared the cache, restarted, tried going directly to the site to log in, but nothing works. Everything is fine when using Chrome, but we prefer Firefox. Is this a conflict in the new Apple OS? Is there a fix?

Hi Joan

What is the error message that you are getting?

Hi Paul - Facebook: Loads the below message. "This page isn't available right now. This may be because of a technical error that we're working to get fixed. Try reloading the page" Clicking reload, chnges page to FB logo. After 3 mins, it sometimes loads a home screen which does not allow clicking into any field. All works fine in Chrome. Meetup: "Application error: a client side exception has occurred (see the browser console for more information)" screen is otherwise blank All works fine in Chrome. YouTube: loads a screen of grey silhouetted boxes where videos would be, nothing else on screen All works fine in Chrome. NY Times: Loads a non-subscriber home page with no log in button. Going to the NYT log in link page, and clicking has no response. All works fine in Chrome. dropbox.com: Home page displays with log in window, page goes blank when clicking log in button. All works fine in Chrome.

As mentioned, I have cleared the Firefox cache, restarted and no change. I've done that several times. Checked Firefox version, and it says up to date.

Thanks for any assistance you can provide. Joan

Alt+Command+I, click Console. Look for errors that might be relevant, and send them here.

Please ensure that there is no personal info.

Also, see if the problem reproduces in Private windows.

I also found this post, which says that adblockers may be the problem.

S - Problem still exists in a Private Window. I 'm not familiar with Alt+Command+I Since I'm on a Mac, I tried Opt+Command+l, and nothing happened at all. Should this sequence be used after an error occurs, on start up, or ??? Thanks for the help, hope I can get this sorted.

S - Thanks again, but this is an issue re: Apple's latest OS26.2 Tahoe and FF, not a Windows issue. Lots of reports about issues with Tahoe...I'll be checking with Apple today. I did try turning off Tracking Protection on few of the bad site, but they still don't load.
