lost bookmark profiles

My SSD boot drive crashed -- Rebuilt system (brand new SSD boot drive) and reloaded all of my data from a separate backup, however Firefox profile is gone. I have copies of the old profiles including the places files, etc. Following Mozilla's instructions I reloaded the old profiles. Firefox starts right up but *without* my bookmarks, etc. Unfortunately there was no "old Firefox data" folder saved and I could not retrieve the bookmark specific backup. Thoughts? Thanks!

Do you still have a copy of your old Firefox profile?

yes both an external HDD and cloud backup, thanks

If you have signed into Firefox Sync in the new Firefox installation, head to https://accounts.firefox.com/signin and remove the desktop copy from the list of Connected Services.

Next, open the profile folder using about:profiles. Once open, close Firefox completely.

Replace the contents of the profile folder, open Firefox and sign back into Firefox Sync.
