URL auto-fill is slow on Android

SuMo Bot

There is a significant delay with URL suggestion autofill when writing an address/URL into the URL-/search field. Many times resulting in a web search of the incomplete URL name, instead of going to the correct page. (Oneplus 13)

Hi! 👋

That’s a known issue that some Firefox for Android users (especially on newer phones like the OnePlus 13) have been noticing — the address bar autocomplete lagging or failing to register the full URL before it triggers a search.

Here are a few things you can try that usually fix or improve it:

Clear browsing data (especially “Site settings” and “Cached images/files”) Go to: Settings → Delete browsing data → select Cached files and Site settings. Then restart Firefox and test again.

Disable “Show search suggestions” temporarily: Go to Settings → Search → Show search suggestions. Toggle it off and see if the lag disappears — this feature sometimes delays URL recognition.

Turn off “Firefox Suggest” or “Address bar suggestions”: Under Settings → Privacy and security → Firefox Suggest, disable the “Suggestions from the web” options. It speeds up autofill significantly.
