I would like to delete Thunderbird completely from my accout and then re-install fresh. However none of the answers I have found tell me where to start to delete it from my profile.

The online info is inaccurate as it pre-supposes a certain knowledge as to what is to be found where. I cannot follow that.

You want to re-install Thunderbird why exactly? And what do you want to achieve in the first place?

Unhelpful reply - the reason is none of your business.

And yet here comes another person asking you essentially the same thing. You hope to achieve what exactly? I don't care really you already have been rude when someone was concerned enough to try and help you. So I suggest you use the information provided in the knowledge base to remove your profile and do not seek support when you loose everything because it is none of our business.

The information you seek is located here. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-thunderbird-profiles I am not writing personalized instructions or simplifying the article for you. You need to understand the quantum what you are doing, not just the how of doing it.

By the way is it is related to this other support topic you posted four minutes before this one. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1541804 where you actually identified a problem that is not run of the mill and most unlikely to be responsive to your proposed new start. Getting rid of your antivirus product might be a more constructive pursuit. But I will not be participating further with you as your problems are to quote you "the reason is none of your business" so your issues are your business. I will let you get on with it.

Thanks for providing the info. I asked how to delete Thunderbird completely. If this is done be deleting a profile, then why do I still have Thunderbird? The removal of Thunderbird is what I want to achieve. There I said it originally.

I have the same problem, so I'll go... my sister has Thunderbird, as do I. She had two or three email accounts in it, and then she deleted the extra ones, which were for a volunteer job. Then she wanted a gmail account, which would mean she'd have 2 email accounts. I installed it, and Thunderbird acknowledged it. But once we closed Thunderbird and re-opened it, the Gmail account was gone. So I looked up solutions for that, and it had something to do with js files. I read a lot about it, then went looking in the file in question for the lines of code that were no longer needed. But what was in the examples wasn't in the same format in the place I was looking. It was impossible for me to find the old coding that dealt with the defunct email address that she was no longer using. And to make matters worse, she had friend in who installed her gmail account 3 more times, hoping it would stick, and not understanding the problem.

So my next idea was to COMPLETELY uninstall Thunderbird on her computer, and re-install to input her two email accounts in the order she wanted them. Did one uninstall, and when I re-installed everything to do with her email was still intact. Did some more research and found out I'd have to delete the profile file to get a fresh re-install. Deleted it, uninstalled Thunderbird, re-booted the computer, re-installed Thunderbird, and got a message that Thunderbird could not launch with a missing profile file. I could not find a way around this, and when I restored the profile from the Recycle Bin, Thunderbird was up and running with nothing changed or resolved.

What I want to do is REMOVE THUNDERBIRD COMPLETELY from her computer so it will be like she never had it. Then I can re-install Thunderbird and set it up the way she needs it. Why is it so hard to do this?

Oh, and in her program folder (the one where I was trying to do the uninstall) there were two other Thunderbird icons that I couldn't delete because they said they had no programs associated with them. I don't have them on my computer, so I'm not sure what they are. The icon have squares or rectangles on them.

She's 81, so I'm trying to do this tech support using TeamViewer. So what do I do now?
