Firefox android is deceiving users

When you open firefox private mode, it says leave no trace. Assuring users that whatever happens in their private session, stays in that session, but this is a blatant lie and firefox knows this. Go to any site that has cookies, or user login, or something similar. login into the site. Than simply remove firefox from ram. Now open firefox again, go to private mode, and go to that site. Most of the time, it still remembers the user. This issue has been present for far too long, not addressed, still pushed to the users that it is safe to use. Instead of warning the users, it is promoting them to use it by saying leaves no trace in this new update. This is unacceptable.

Hi

I have just opened a private browsing tab in Firefox for Android, search for a site and opened it.

I had cookie notices for both the search engine and the website.

I then closed the Firefox for Android and reopened it and a new private browsing session. When searching and opening the same site, I again get cookie notices.

Not too sure what the problem is that you are experiencing, but I recommend that you use the latest version of Firefox for Android and would be keen to hear what add-ons you have installed.

The solution provided in this thread is sometimes worse than just clearing from ram.

Not sure what you are looking for us to do now, but it would be handy to know if you are using the latest version of Firefox for Android and what add-ons you have installed.

Of course I want mozilla to fix the issue, and in the meantime, warn users. Yes I am using the latest Firefox for android, I have always used up-to-date firefox, over many years, and the problem has always existed, so it has nothing to do with the version. The only add-on I have is Ublock origin, but that shouldn't matter either, as in the thread I linked, someone said that it is a known firefox issue, so any add-on has nothing to do with it either.

Edit: and in the latest update, I always have to press the private mode button to enter it. Previously it had option to remember it, and always opened the app in it.

Hi

I am sorry, but I cannot see what you want us to "fix" - Firefox for Android appears to be working fine. Perhaps you can walk us through the problem in stages giving clear and exact steps to help us reproduce it?

This support article should help you to add a private browsing mode shortcut to your Android home screen. I understand that there is a small issue with this functionality again present, but I hope it will be fixed very soon.

I mean no disrespect or want to pick up a fight, but I still see the issue.

Copy-paste from the thread I linked above: /questions/1478367 "Private browsing means all cookie and stuff is deleted when the private session is closed, but for example: 1) Go to Private mode. 2) Go to monkeytype.com. 3) Reject or accept the cookie. 4) Close the browser. now it should be wiped but... 5) Open browser and go to Private mode 6) Go to monkeytype.com again. Cookie banner is missing. You should be prompted by the cookie banner but a lot of times it will not show the cookie banner. 7) Close the browser and go there again. 8) Now the cookie banner will appear & ask you to Accept or Reject cookies again.

I have noticed similar behavior in a lot of websites, where they remember who I am. But as soon as I open the browser and close it again, the cookie/session is truly wiped. This does not happen every time, but a loooot of time.

Thank you."

Edit: The issue as mentioned above is, not wiping private user session after use.

1) Go to Private mode. 2) Go to monkeytype.com. 3) Reject or accept the cookie. 4) Close the private tab 5) Go to normal mode 6) Go to private mode 7) Go to monkeytype.com again. Cookie banner is there.

Using above STRs I can't reproduce this issue.

Doesn't happen everytime, but a lot of time. Also my answer was edited by a mod, not my original msg.

How can we reproduce or replicate this issue?
