Can I change my Thunderbird password without knowing the current password?

About 5 years ago (maybe more, maybe less) I lost my password to Thunderbird and ever since have been using workarounds via AOL to do business (AOL since my email address is [email removed]@verizon.net ... I'm assuming you are aware of the Verizon abandoning their email service sometime back and AOL picking up all the verizon.net traffic). So, is there a way that I can NOW get into my email without knowing the password or changing the password without knowing the current PW?

I am guessing you mean the primary password See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/protect-your-thunderbird-passwords-primary-password
