Hello, In october, I got a window asking me to update Firefox (I am on OSX 10.9.5). I downloaded the file (Firefox 131.0.3 dmg) opened it, and dragged to applications. Everything seems OK. Now I read that Firefox does not send such windows, but makes background updates. Should I worry ? Thanks ! René

Hi, we don't do updates for this OSX version anymore and you still have Firefox 78. So yes, something is fishy here.

If you were sent to a mozilla.org link like say https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ then the Firefox 131.0.3 was a legit version though the current Release is Firefox 133.0.3. The Firefox 131.0.3 will not run on your old macOS 10.9.5

Firefox updates are done internally however you appear to have the most current version you can run on the eol macOS 10.9, 10.10, 10.11 which is Firefox 78.15.0esr. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-mac-osx-users-esr

Firefox 79.0 to 115.0 ESR requires macOS 10.12 (ten.twelve) at minimum to run. For Firefox 116.0 to current requires macOS 10.15 (ten.fifteen) at minimum to run.
