I am afraid to update to Firefox 124 since I don't want the new default of ordering tabs by how recently they were opened to kick in before I have a chance to preserve the existing tab order.

I am afraid to update to Firefox 124 for fear of losing the existing order of 100s of open tabs if the default setting of ordering tabs by "Recently Opened" kicks in before I have a chance to change the setting to "Tab Order". Can anyone help me? I'd like to upgrade to 124 if I can do so safely!

Hi, my tabs didn't change order. The way I read the release notes at https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/124.0/releasenotes/ --

"In Firefox View, open tabs can now be sorted by either recent activity or tab order. Recent activity is the default setting."

-- what is changing is that the open tabs list on the Firefox View page will have two different sorting options. Maybe it's because I have too many tabs open, but that list doesn't work for me -- it doesn't show any open tabs or sorting options even if I wait patiently for a while.

If you want to save a list of your open tabs now or at any time, one method is to create a new bookmark folder with each of the titles and URLs. Luckily, you don't have to save them manually: Command+Shift+D (or Bookmarks menu > Bookmark All Tabs) can do it in one step.
