That thread is from 2013...
As you may know, many extensions released before Firefox 57 (November 2017) used features (legacy APIs) that are no longer available to extensions in Firefox 57 and later (WebExtensions APIs).
I don't know whether there are any new extensions to decode .mht / MHTML files. Have you searched on the Add-ons site?
I searched the add-ons, but couldn't find anything related to .mht files or Mozilla Archive Format.
