My opening page has a lot of empty boxes. And almost nothing but lines. How do I fix that?

For the home page you can disable the new Activity Stream design by setting this pref to false on the about:config page.

  • browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.aboutHome.enabled = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
