can I control where new bookmarks appear
In Firefox for iOS I can create new Bookmarks but not control where they appear. Nor can I move them after they have appeared. Is it possible to do either of these things from within Firefox for iOS?

No, sorry. Right now, it's not possible.
Thanks Chris. Can you tell me where they should appear? It says under 'Mobile Bookmarks' that 'Bookmarks you save will show up here.' But they don't seem to. They show under 'Desktop Bookmarks'.
There are a couple of ways to access your Firefox for iOS bookmarks.
- Tap the menu button at the bottom center.
- Tap the star icon in the top line of the menu.
OR
- Tap the address bar, which will bring up the Home screen
- Tap the star icon.
