Hello rolloutsca, Thank you for contacting Mozilla Support. That is correct, there's no way to immediately switch to a newly opened tab. To switch to your new tab, [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/using-tabs-firefox-android?esab=a&s=open+link&r=5&as=s#w_where-are-my-tabs_2 view your tabs] view your tabs and tap on its thumbnail.
