This is probably not a Firefox memory issue.

First, check if YouTube shows a message asking if you’re still watching when the video stops.

Then test Firefox:

Open:

about:support

Click Troubleshoot Mode and try leaving the video playing again.

Also check if Windows is going into sleep mode or turning off the screen after a few hours.

If Firefox stays open normally and only the video stops, the problem is probably with YouTube, not Firefox.
