Tried to private browse but messed up finsing my bookmarks

Gary

I just read what I think addresses my problem but I'm too thick to Understand it all. My goal is to make my android browsing as private as possible without messing anything else up. Obviously I failed. In trying to do that I made it I made my bookmarks unreachable. What can I do to start over? Gary

Hi Gary

If you tap the mask icon in the top right of the screen when you open Firefox for Android, do you see your bookmarks?

No, at very top right I see the three dots just to the left of that I see what I guess I'd call the history icon with a little mask there and the larger mask below that doesn't show me anything.

My answer isn't completely right. If I press the history icon that has the small mask on it it gives me an opportunity to display shortcuts. I'm sorry I can't provide any more accurate information than that. Maybe use at this point? Or phone, email?? I don't know, I'm not very bright anymore. 86yo. Gary

Hi,

In the first place, what do you mean by bookmarks bring unreachable?

Is the question about home page shortcut icons being shown in non–private mode, but not available on the purple blank page in private mode?

I use Firefox (with numerous bookmarks for frequently used pages) on a Galaxy S3 Ultra. I set privacy options to delete history when I exit. I use McAfee, Malwarebytes, and NordVPN for security. Last week I found that the Firefox links to my bookmarks and history weren't where they had been. And on my home page and Apps pages (nothing to do with Firefox) some of the icons were in new locations and a few were missing altogether.

My Firefox links to bookmarks and history - I knew exactly where they were. But they had been moved and I still haven't found all of them. I had been able to reach those two lists by first clicking the three dots in the upper right corner. The links were then displayed about halfway down the screen. They were gone or relocated. And my Privacy options seemed to have changed. I've mucked about, trying to find them but haven't been successful. Along with my day-to-day work I've tried to resolve this but haven't finished.

Was Samsung's latest update a problem? Was there an enhancement to Firefox that moved things around? I don't know. I would reinstall Firefox but I don't want to make a mistake and lose my bookmarks.

What can I do safely? I'm 86 so my cognitive skills have diminished. I'd love some remote help.

Gary

I don't know where I should see a blank.purple page. I don't remember seeing one.

Can I just reinstall Firefox without losing my saved bookmarks?

I may be using the wrong word. When I save a URL for quick future access is that a bookmark or is it a Favorite?
