My subscription for Mozilla VPN has been cancelled.

I got an email that my subscription for Mozilla VPN has been cancelled a month from now. I wonder why? On the "What’s New | Firefox 151" page the new free VPN service is announced. Does it have anything to do with that? Not yet in my region (Sweden) though. Kind regards, Monika Ivarsson

Mozilla VPN is one of our premium products. In order to get premium support from a dedicated agent, please submit your question with your Mozilla VPN app by going to Settings > Help > Contact Support. Alternatively, you can sign in to the Mozilla account connected to your subscription here (if not already) and then use this link.

Built-in Firefox VPN is unrelated. It has limitations compared to Mozilla VPN, and definitely is not a reason for the subscriptions to be cancelled.

Monika, if you log in to your account, do you see your active subscriptions listed there?

Is it possible that it's going to be your renewal date, and you maybe need to update your payment details for it to auto–renew again?

If anything doesn't look like it should, the earlier posts cover the steps how to reach VPN/subscription support directly — they'll be able to check your account for you.

Thanks for various answers and info as to the difference between the paid for service and the free one.

 It was an easy thing to renew the subscription once I was set on the right track (Google payments - haven't gotten used to that). 
  I still don't know why my subscription was cancelled though, since all my payment methods were in order.

Maybe it is just an unfortunate way of saying the subscription on file won't auto-renew on its own and will need a manual payment again for the next term after some time. (Or, the linked Google Wallet might have signaled a "cancel" event meaning they won't autobill going forwards, and that appeared like a cancellation to everything else?)

I think most of recurrent/subscription payments, esp. in the EU, have a maximum term from the payment processor side, after which the billing subscription has to be renewed by the user again.

Unfortunate to say the least!

Previous years I got reminders of automatic renewal, so I think that you are right in assuming changed policy, regardless of what brought it on. Thanks!
