Hi Johannes, I assume you have set Firefox to Sync preferences - How do I choose what information to sync on Firefox?

But that doesn't cover everything. Some preferences are synced by default. You can recognize these if you search for the name of the preference you care about, for example, extensions.activeThemeID. Firefox will show two preferences,

  • extensions.activeThemeID
  • services.sync.prefs.sync.extensions.activeThemeID

The first preference stores the ID of the installed theme, while the second is set to true or false to indicate whether that preference should sync (toggle to false if you want to be able to use different themes in different profiles connected to the same account). Usually if a services.sync.prefs.sync preference is present it is set to true and syncs, and if it is not present for a preference, that preference does not sync.

I believe users have demonstrated that creating your own services.sync.prefs.sync preferences corresponding to other built-in preferences can work, but I haven't tested it myself.
